The Canary Islands are located in the subtropical climate belt – the annual average is over 18ºC. Due to its location in the Atlantic, it is also very mild at night or in winter. In some years there are less than 10 rainy days in the entire winter season and in summer it sometimes does not rain at all for up to 6 months.

There is very good news for those who love very green gardens: In the Canary Islands you can integrate many tropical and very ornamental plants. Of course, a prerequisite is intensive irrigation and which plants are really suitable on site and what conditions should be created on site. Due to the dry climate, an automatic irrigation system should definitely be installed, as the irrigation can then be perfectly dosed by a specialist.

In order to be able to call a beautiful garden your own, a holistic concept is important. White bungalow walls with high light reflection and a chlorinated pool tend to stress the plants. On the other hand, partial shading (ideally 30% – 50% of the area) and water features with water evaporation are optimal, which increase the humidity and thus create pleasant conditions for the plants. Above all, fruit plants such as avocados, mangoes, bananas, guayabo and papaya thrive with sufficient watering and are also very decorative. Perhaps the most effective plant is the passion fruit. The tendril thrives in a small pot and after half a year it can easily cover 10 – 15 m2.
